The End of an Era

I officially have my first full-time job in 12 years.

My time as a stay-at-home-mom has come to an end.

We knew the time was coming soon where I would want to work more and need to work more. The perfect opportunity presented itself at their school, so I finally took the leap.

I didn’t think I would feel emotional about it all until I sat down to write this post.

I think back to all those days at home with my kids from birth to six.

Some of those days were painfully long and lonely.

Some of those days I dreamed of them being in school so I could have quiet.

But most of those days were filled with the best memories of my life.

Now, my son prepares for middle school next year. I would give anything in the world to spend a whole day with that little 4 year-old again. I would answer his millions of questions all over again and help him find LEGO pieces.

My daughter is growing up too and almost as tall as me. I would love to have one more bike ride with her on our attached bikes and ride the trolley one more time with her asleep on my lap.

I have amazing memories of all our time together. But it is the end of an era for our family.

Sundays are no longer just me prepping everyone ELSE for work and school…I am prepping myself too.

Mornings are no longer focused only on everyone else….I am focused on myself too.

It honestly feels weird to have my own purpose again. I feel a bit selfish.

But I have realized that all those moments I gave prepared them all to turn around and give back to me.

They have been so supportive of my new job and cheering me on.

I am forever grateful for my years as a stay-at-home-mom and all the support from Kevin.

I tearfully say goodbye to one chapter and welcome the next with open arms.

  1. Brittany-
Many congratulations! Enjoy the new journey. I just started back to full-time in October after 11 years. It’s a big adjustment but it will be great!

  2. Awww 🥰 Bless you Brittany! The best of luck in your new job! Those precious family moments together are evolving into a new , exciting phase. I have just enjoyed a wonderful family meal with my husband and two daughters, and we spent a lot of time laughing reminiscing about things they said and did as two and three year olds , and time concertinaed back as though it were yesterday! They are now 31 and 33 respectively, and living in their own homes. 😂😊. It was – and is – wonderful! And those two and three year olds were right there at the table with us adults!! I can’t describe it any other way! The magic simply stays. 🤗 Keep writing Brittany ( when you have a little time). I love your work. X
